During the week of March 29, 2021, through April 4, 2021, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 29 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Six of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. None of the drivers were under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 331 DUI arrests compared with 266 during the same period last year, an increase of 24.4 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

There have been 198 major accidents so far this year compared with 243 during the same period last year, a decrease of 18.5 percent.
To date, there were 7 fatal crashes, resulting in 7 fatalities, compared with 7 fatal crashes, resulting in 7 fatalities for the same time last year.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
