Hilo, Hawaiʻi – The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Parks and Recreation is inviting anglers of all ages and skill levels to register for the 27th annual ʻOhana Shoreline Fishing Tournament, set to take place from August 15 to August 17, 2025.

Registration packets, which include all tournament rules, are now available at Parks and Recreation facilities island-wide. Packets can also be picked up at several local businesses, including J. Hara Store in Kurtistown, S. Tokunaga Store in Hilo, Hawaiian Island Creations in Waimea, and A. Arakaki Store in Kohala. For added convenience, forms can be found and downloaded online on the Parks and Recreation, Recreation Division web page at https://www.parks.hawaiicounty.gov/facilities-parks/recreation.

Completed registration forms, along with payment, must be mailed to the Recreation Division office at 799 Piʻilani St., Hilo, HI 96720. A crucial deadline to note: all entries must be postmarked by Friday, August 1. No late entries will be accepted, and registration is mail-in only. Checks should be made payable to the County of Hawaiʻi Director of Finance.

The tournament will culminate with weigh-ins on Sunday, August 17, from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Honokaʻa Sports Complex, located at 45-541 Lehua St. in Honokaʻa.

The event features six individual divisions designed to include everyone in the family:

  • Men’s (18-54 years old)
  • Women’s (18-54 years old)
  • Teens (13-17 years old)
  • Keiki (5-12 years old)
  • Kupuna (55 years of age and older)
  • ʻOhana (family teams)

Participants are permitted to enter one individual division in addition to the ʻOhana division. All entrants are also automatically entered into an invasive species division, recognizing efforts to catch targeted invasive fish. Additionally, an art contest will be held; all artworks should be mailed in with the registration form and payment.

Entry fees are:

  • Men’s and Women’s Divisions: $35
  • Teens, Keiki, and Kupuna Divisions: $30
  • ʻOhana Division: $25 per team (teams can consist of ONLY ONE ADULT and up to three keiki or teens).

Valuable gift card prizes and awards will be presented to the top 10 heaviest fish in the Men’s, Women’s, Teens, Keiki, and Kupuna Divisions. Top ʻOhana Division teams will also receive a prize pack. The participant who catches the most targeted invasive fish will win the invasive species category, and the art contest winner will see their artwork featured on the 2026 ʻOhana Shoreline Fishing Tournament flyer, along with a prize.
