Brokenhardened Fine Art Gallery Fire

A report came into the Hilo Fire station this morning at 6:14 am of heavy smoke visible within two commercial businesses in downtown Hilo at 118 Kamehameha ave.

Hawaii Police department was able to force the doors open and make entry to perform a rapid primary search through zero visibility conditions, in order to locate occupants and find the seat of the fire. It was reported that flames and active burning were located inside Brokenhardened Gallery.

The fire was extinguished by 6:26 am , and adjacent occupancies, including the building’s second floor, were also searched for occupants and fire extension.  With the fire extinguisher, an overhaul and ventilation were completed. No occupants were found, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire and damage cost estimates are currently undetermined as of press time.
