Chief Justice Seeks Public Comment on Judicial Nominees for District Family Court on the Big Island

Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald announced today that he is seeking public comment on judicial nominees for a position in the District Family Court in the Third Circuit, island of Hawaii.

The names submitted for this vacancy by the Judicial Selection Commission, in alphabetical order, are:

Jill M. Hasegawa
Ms. Hasegawa is currently employed with Raymond K. Hasegawa, AAL, ALC. Hasegawa is a graduate of the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law, and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 2004.

William B. Heflin
Mr. Heflin is currently employed at Alcain Naniole & Heflin, LLLC. Heflin is a graduate of the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law, and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 2001.

Ha`aheo M. Kaho`ohalahala
Ms. Kaho`ohalahala is currently employed as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, County of Hawaii. Kaho`ohalahala is a graduate of the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law, and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 2012.

Jeffrey W. Ng
Mr. Ng is currently employed as a Deputy Public Defender with the Office of the Public Defender. Ng is a graduate of the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law, and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 2002.

Andrew D. Son
Mr. Son is currently employed as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, County of Hawaii. Son is a graduate of Loyola Law School, and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 2006.

Sherilyn K. Tavares
Ms. Tavares is currently employed as a Deputy Public Defender with the Office of the Public Defender. Tavares is a graduate of the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law, and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 2012.

The Chief Justice has the discretion to assign judges to the district or district family court calendar. Comments about the qualifications and character of any of the nominees with regard to either calendar assignment may be sent, in writing, to:
