Honolulu, Hawaiʻi – The Hawaiʻi Department of Health (DOH) Food and Drug Branch (FDB) is alerting residents to a recall issued by Mondelēz Global LLC for specific RITZ Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches and RITZ Filled Cracker Sandwich Variety Packs. The recall is due to a labeling error on individually wrapped packs that may incorrectly identify the product as a cheese variety, despite containing peanut butter crackers.
While the outer cartons are correctly labeled and include an allergen advisory statement, the individually wrapped packs inside do not indicate the presence of peanuts. This poses a serious risk to individuals with peanut allergies.
The recalled products were distributed nationwide, including in supermarkets and various retailers across Hawaiʻi. The FDB is currently inspecting local stores to ensure these recalled products are removed from sale.

Health Risk for Peanut Allergies: Individuals with an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts face a risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume or are exposed to these products. Symptoms of an allergic reaction can include runny nose, skin reactions (hives, swelling, itching), tingling in the mouth or throat, digestive issues (diarrhea, cramps, nausea, vomiting), and/or asthma symptoms (coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath). Severe reactions can lead to anaphylaxis, a medical emergency characterized by throat swelling, difficulty breathing, a severe drop in blood pressure, and other critical symptoms.
To date, there have been no reports of illness or adverse events attributed to these recalled products.
