Douglas remains a Category 1 Hurricane into Saturday night. Big Island remains on Hurricane Watch.

At 11:00 PM HST (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Douglas was
located by reconnaissance aircraft near latitude 20.4 North, longitude 152.8 West. Douglas is moving toward the west-northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days. On the forecast track, Douglas will pass dangerously close to the main Hawaiian Islands on Sunday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 90 mph (150 km/h) with higher gusts. Some slow weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, but Douglas is forecast to remain near hurricane intensity as it passes the islands, necessitating a Hurricane Warning for Kauai County.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 983 mb (29.03 inches).
