Hilo, Hawaiʻi – The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Public Works (DPW) will be conducting emergency repairs on Kāiwiki Road due to an increased road depression. The project is scheduled to begin on Friday, August 15, at 8 a.m. and will continue until the repairs are completed.
During the work period, motorists should be aware of the following:
- A one-lane closure will be in effect.
- Message boards will be posted on the roadway to provide updates.

As part of the repairs, yield signs and a speed hump will be installed. The DPW urges the public to drive with caution in the work zone and to follow all posted signs and directions from traffic personnel. The department expressed its appreciation for the community’s patience and cooperation while these safety improvements are made.
