Hawai‘i Island police have arrested and charged 24-year-old escapee Kelia Dallas Armstrong, of Pahoa.

Armstrong had been sought by police since February 15, 2021, when she managed to escape police custody shortly after being arrested the same day.

Armstrong was located early Friday afternoon, March 5, at a residence in Leilani Estates, where she was arrested by the elite Area I Special Enforcement Unit.

On Friday afternoon, after conferring with county prosecutors, Armstrong was charged with second-degree escape and fourth-degree theft. Her bail was set at $2,500. She remained in police custody over the weekend pending her initial scheduled court appearance on Monday, March 8, 2021, where the court released her without bail.
