Fatal Vehicle Fire Under Investigation in Ocean View

Ocean View, Hawai’i – Hawai’i Island police are investigating a fatal vehicle fire that occurred on Sunday afternoon in the Hawai’i Ocean View Estate subdivision. The incident, reported under case number 25-033891, resulted in the discovery of human remains within a burned-out sedan.

Police and fire personnel were dispatched to the scene on King Kamehameha Boulevard, approximately a tenth of a mile above Highway 11, at 3:26 p.m Sunday afternoon, April 13, 2025. Upon arrival, they found a four-door sedan completely consumed by flames. After firefighters extinguished the blaze, the remains of a body were discovered inside the passenger area of the vehicle.

A detective from the Area II Criminal Investigation Section was dispatched to the scene and is leading the ongoing investigation. Authorities are currently working to identify the victim and determine the cause of the fire.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
