KONA, HAWAIʻI – Motorists in Kona should prepare for upcoming roadwork as the County of Hawaiʻi Department of Public Works has announced the start dates for the final two phases of the Māmalahoa Highway resurfacing project.
The next phase, covering approximately three miles from Kalamauka Road to Ha’awina Street, is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 19, 2025, and is expected to be completed by October 2, 2025.
Following shortly after, the last segment of the project will address the stretch of Māmalahoa Highway from Palani Road to Kamalani Street, also spanning approximately three miles. This work is slated to begin on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, with an anticipated completion date of November 26, 2025.
Isemoto Contracting is the contractor undertaking the project, which encompasses more than just resurfacing and striping.
