Emergency services sprang into action as reports of a structure fire at 15-2227 Kahokumaka Loop came into dispatch lines at 8:28 pm last night, prompting multiple units from the Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) and the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) to rush to the scene.

Arriving at the location, responders were met with a scene of intense flames consuming a single-story, unpermitted residential structure measuring approximately 30’x25′. Commanding Officer 10 (CO 10) took charge upon arrival, orchestrating extinguishing operations to combat the raging fire. Although Engine 18 (E 18) and Engine 05 (E 05) were initially dispatched, they were later canceled en route.

Amidst the chaos, HPD swiftly established a safe perimeter, allowing firefighters to focus on their efforts without compromising public safety. Despite the challenging conditions, responders managed to successfully extinguish the fire and conduct thorough overhaul procedures to ensure no residual hotspots remained.

Remarkably, no individuals were found inside or in the vicinity of the structure at the time of the fire, averting potential injuries or fatalities. However, the cause of the blaze remains undetermined, with preliminary investigations pointing towards the possibility of an unattended candle as the source.

Details regarding the owner of the property and the extent of the losses incurred are currently unknown.

As authorities continue their investigations, residents are reminded to exercise caution and diligence, especially regarding fire safety practices. The swift and coordinated response from emergency services underscores the importance of preparedness and collaboration in mitigating the impact of such emergencies on the community.
