Four Big Island Teachers in running for 2021 Complex Area Teachers of the Year

Four Big Island teachers are in the running for the 2021 Complex Area Teachers of the Year award. The annual Hawai‘i State Teacher of the Year award represents Hawaii Department of Education (HIDOE)’s highest teaching honor. Living, Learning and Teaching our youth has presented new challenges amid this pandemic. Teachers have had to adapt and continuously evolve. Shining a new light on the importance to recognize excellence in the teaching profession.

One outstanding educator will be named the 2021 Hawai‘i State Teacher of the Year in a virtual ceremony live on Oct. 23 on the Hawaii Department of Education HIDOE Facebook page from among 16 finalists, representing each of HIDOE complex areas and one finalist from charter schools.

Displayed are the collective talent, passion and dedication of the Big Islands honorees which provides a great source of pride for Hawai‘i public schools. Mahalo to all teachers and congratulations to the finalist!
