The Hawaiʻi County Department of Parks and Recreation announces that the Gilbert Kahele Recreation Area will be closed on Tuesday August 2, from 4:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for vector control operations.

Please plan travel through this area with the knowledge that the public restrooms and amenities at this park will not be available during this timeframe. Thank you for your understanding as we work to improve the conditions at this park.
