Gilbert Kahele Recreation Area to Close for Vector Control on May 6

Hilo, Hawai’i – The County of Hawai’i Department of Parks & Recreation announced today that the Gilbert Kahele Recreation Area will be temporarily closed for vector control operations on Tuesday, May 6, from 4:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

During this time, the public restrooms and other amenities at the park will be unavailable. Residents and visitors are urged to plan their travel accordingly and avoid the area during treatment.

The Department of Parks & Recreation anticipates the recreation area will reopen at 12:00 p.m. on May 6.
