Hawaiʻi County Reminds Property Owners of August 20 Tax Payment Deadline

Hilo, Hawaiʻi – The County of Hawaiʻi is reminding property owners that real property tax bills for the first-half installment of the 2025-2026 tax year have been mailed. The payment deadline for these taxes is Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Payments received after this date will be considered delinquent and will incur penalty and interest charges.

Property owners are advised that a penalty of 10% plus annual interest of 12% will be assessed for failure to pay taxes by the due date, even if the tax bill was not received. The postmarked date on mailed payments will serve as the date of receipt.

If you are responsible for paying real property taxes and have not received your bill, you should immediately contact the Real Property Tax Division at (808) 961-8282 for a duplicate bill. Those who have recently paid off their mortgages are also encouraged to call to ensure that tax bills are now being sent directly to their attention, rather than to a bank or financial institution.
