Hilo, Hawaiʻi — The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Parks and Recreation is offering an American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification Course at the NAS Swimming Pool in Hilo. The course, which includes deep water training, will run from January 10 through February 7, 2025, with sessions held on Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
This certification program provides community members with essential lifesaving skills and builds on the success of previous courses conducted in Hilo, Kona, and Pāhoa last fall.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Participants must be at least 15 years old by the final class session.
- Two prerequisite swimming skills evaluations must be completed.
The course fee is $122, payable in exact cash on the first day of class.
