HILO, Hawaiʻi – The County of Hawaiʻi has launched the Laulima Community Survey, inviting residents to contribute their perspectives to help shape the future of Hawaiʻi Island. The anonymous online survey will be available to the public through July 31.
The survey, spearheaded by the Department of Research and Development, aims to capture the sentiments and priorities of residents across the island. By conducting the survey every four years, the County intends to monitor trends and ensure that its policies and investments align with the evolving needs of its communities.
Mayor Kimo Alameda emphasized the importance of public participation, stating, “This survey is a chance for Hawai’i Island residents to share their thoughts and concerns about life in our communities — what is working, what is not, and what matters most to you and your ‘ohana,” said Mayor Kimo Alameda. “It only takes a few minutes, but your input can have a lasting impact on the direction of our island.”
Participants are asked to rate various important aspects of life in their communities, including the availability of affordable housing, employment opportunities, the quality of education and healthcare, visitor impacts, and public safety, among other topics. The survey also seeks feedback on the County’s perceived impact within communities and what residents identify as the most urgent issues requiring attention.
