Hawaiʻi Island – The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) has released the schedule of lane closures for state highways and roads on Hawaiʻi Island for the upcoming week, July 7 through July 11, 2025. Motorists are advised that these schedules may change without notice due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.
All projects are weather permitting. A map of current lane closures can typically be found on the HDOT website.
Drivers should anticipate delays and plan alternative routes when possible.
Detailed Lane Closures by Route:
KANOELEHUA AVENUE (ROUTE 11) — HILO
- Tuesday, July 8 – Friday, July 11, 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.:
- Pocket closure in both directions between mile post 3.1 to 3.2 (near Waianuhea Place) for turn pocket maintenance.
- Left pocket closure in the southbound direction between mile post 3.8 to 3.9 (near Kilauea Avenue and Lama Street) for turn pocket maintenance.
VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) — HILO
- Monday, July 7 – Friday, July 11, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.:
- Single lane closure possible in either direction between mile post 19 to 20 (near North Glenwood Road) for mowing and shoulder work.
- Monday, July 7 – Friday, July 11, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.:
- Roving lane closure possible in either direction between mile post 27.3 to 30.9 (near Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Mauna Loa Road) for HELCO installing a new pole and wires.

- Monday, July 7 – Friday, July 11, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Single lane closure possible in either direction for grass cutting.
- HONAUNAU (Mile Post 97-104, near Haleili Road and Filipino Clubhouse Road):
- Monday, July 7 – Friday, July 11, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.: Single lane closure possible in either direction for safety improvements.
