Hawaiʻi Police Ask for Public’s Assistance Identifying Suspect in Captain Cook Armed Robbery

Hawai’i Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect responsible for an armed robbery at a Captain Cook gas station in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

At 12:39 a.m., Kona patrol officers responded to the Mamalahoa Highway business after an employee reported being robbed at gunpoint. The suspect demanded cash, removed the cash drawer, and then fled the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as being 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, slender, wearing long pants and a dark-colored hoodie. His head and face were concealed.

The Area II Criminal Investigation Section is continuing this investigation, which is classified as a first-degree robbery.
