by Thunda

Hawai‘i Island police arrested and charged 44-year-old Timothy Nacis of Pa‘auilo for attempting to receive and distribute a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of just over $136,000. Nacis attempted to evade police, ramming a police officer’s vehicle and physically assaulting another officer while being placed under arrest.

On Monday, January 3, 2022, Officers from the Area I Vice section launched a joint operation with federal agents from the United States Postal Service and Homeland Security Investigations after U.S. Postal Service inspector’s intercepted package with a large quantity of the narcotic commonly referred to as “ice” on its way to the Big Island.

After Nacis took possession of the package at a postal facility, a uniformed police officer in a police subsidized vehicle with its roof mounted blue light activated, attempted to initiate a traffic stop. During his attempt to flee, Nacis struck the police vehicle on the driver’s front side, putting the officer in jeopardy of bodily injury. The officer’s vehicle was positioned adjacent to a ravine with a 100 foot drop. Upon impact, Nacis kept his foot on the accelerator in an attempt to push past the officer’s vehicle. The collision caused damage to the officer’s police vehicle. Nacis and the uniformed police officer driving the vehicle were unharmed in the collision.

Nacis was taken into custody after the traffic collision, during which time he was combative and resisting arrest, resulting in minor injuries to himself and another police officer.

Nacis, who has three prior felony convictions, was charged on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, with two counts of attempted promoting a dangerous drug in the first degree (possession), attempted promoting a dangerous drug in the first degree (distribution), promoting a dangerous drug in the second degree, ownership possession prohibited, prohibited acts related to drug paraphernalia, and criminal property damage in the second degree. His bail was set at $200,000 and his first court appearance is Thursday, January 6
