Hawai‘i County Beach Parks on East-Facing Shores to Close ahead of Hurricane Douglas

by Thunda

In anticipation of Hurricane Douglas making its arrival in Hawai‘i this weekend, the County of Hawai‘i Department of Parks and Recreation announces that all County beach parks on east-facing shores will be closed effective Friday, July 24 at 7:00 p.m. until further notice.

The beach parks that will close are from Whittington Beach Park in Ka‘ū, to Kēōkea Beach Park in Kapa‘au.

In addition, all County camping permits are cancelled for Saturday and Sunday, the Department said.

The County of Hawai‘i thanks the community for their cooperation in efforts to keep everyone safe as the storm approaches.

If there are any questions or concerns, please call Parks and Recreation at 961-8311.
