Hawaii Fire Department Laupahoehoe Cliff-side Rescue

Around 7:47 PM early last evening, a call was received for a missing male who was cutting trees along the cliffside and did not return.

HFD responded to Highway 19, around the 28-mile marker at 7:59 pm, and was able to locate the missing party 75 feet down a steep cliff. HPD performed a rope rescue and was able to reach and extricate the victim.

The victim reported as a male in his 40-50 was assessed and denied Emergency Medical services.
