Hawaii Fire Department Rescues Fallen Man on Ahoa Road

Today Hawaii Fire Department responded to a call of a man in distress who had fallen down a hill into the ravine on Ahoa Rd., Kapehu in the Laupahoehoe district on the Big Island.

Upon the arrival of Hawaii Police Department officers, they found a male patient approximately 35 feet down a hill towards the bottom of the ravine. It was reported by HPd that the man had fallen in the night while getting out of his vehicle.

Two personnel from HFD rappelled down to assess the victim. The victim was ambulatory and escorted uphill with the assistance of HFD personnel. Medics treated and transported the patient to Hilo Medical Center without incident.
