Hawai‘i Island Police Seek Public’s Help in Identifying Suspect in Hilo Theft Incident

HILO – Hawai‘i Island police are seeking assistance from the public in identifying a man suspected of theft in a bank parking lot on Pauahi Street in Hilo. The incident occurred on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at approximately 7:48 p.m.

According to the male victim, he was withdrawing money from an ATM when an unidentified man entered his vehicle and stole items. The victim and a bystander confronted the suspect, who then fled the scene on foot toward Aupuni Street. The incident was captured on video surveillance.

Police are asking anyone who may recognize the suspect or have information about the incident to contact the police department’s non-emergency number at (808) 935-3311.
