PUNA, HI – In a concerted effort to enhance public safety, members of the Hawai’i Police Department’s Puna Community Police Section and Puna Patrol executed a warrant sweep on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, resulting in the arrest of 12 individuals wanted for a total of 17 outstanding warrants. This operation underscores the department’s commitment to maintaining a secure environment for residents and visitors alike.
The sweep targeted individuals with various charges, including contempt of court, failure to appear, and violations of conditions of release. The arrests took place primarily in Pahoa, with individuals ranging in age from 24 to 57.

– Arthur Mahoe, 57 (Keaau resident)
Authorities are urging the community to assist in their efforts by reporting any information regarding the whereabouts of additional wanted fugitives.
