Hawai’i Police Seek Public’s Help in Identifying Man Connected to Puna Investigation

PUNA, Hawai’i – The Hawai’i Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a man they wish to question in connection with an ongoing investigation that occurred on March 4, 2025, at a beach in the Puna district. (Report No.: 25-021079)

According to a media release issued today, police are hoping the public can help them identify the individual depicted in an image taken from a cell phone video by the victim. The image shows the unidentified man walking along a roadway in Puna.

The victim described the man as a Caucasian male with a tan complexion and a thin build. He is believed to be between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 140-160 pounds. The man has short brown hair and a short brown beard.

Police are urging anyone who recognizes the individual or has information regarding his identity or whereabouts to come forward.
