Hawaii Police Warn of Phone Scams Asking for Bail Money

Phone call from unknown number late at night. Scam, fraud or phishing with smartphone concept. Prank caller, scammer or stranger. Man answering to incoming call. Hoax person with fake identity.

Hawaiʻi Island police are warning the public about continuing phone scams that attempt to deceive unsuspecting people for assistance in obtaining bail money for a family member who is incarcerated and needs immediate assistance.

Potential victims are being asked to send money via electronic money transfers or to provide confidential credit/debit card information.

The public is reminded to never provide any personal information, including birth dates, social security numbers, credit card information, and bank information to anyone.
