HAWAI’I VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK, HI – Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park is gearing up for a week of celebration, kicking off National Park Week tomorrow, Saturday, April 19th, with a fee-free day for all visitors. The park is also welcoming participants, fans, and supporters of the 62nd annual Merrie Monarch Festival, the world’s largest hula celebration, which begins Sunday in nearby Hilo.

To honor both the national celebration of parks and the vibrant cultural heritage represented by Merrie Monarch, Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park will be debuting a new video series on its social media channels. The series will feature community kūpuna (elders) sharing their knowledge and wisdom through native Hawaiian traditions.

“Hulō! Hooray! National Park Week is finally here,” exclaimed a park representative. “We are thrilled to offer free entry to everyone on Saturday and welcome all those attending the Merrie Monarch Festival to experience the unique beauty and cultural significance of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park.”

The video series promises to offer viewers a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the islands, providing valuable insights into Hawaiian traditions and fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the land and its people. The park hopes that this initiative will further connect visitors to the park’s unique cultural landscape and inspire stewardship of this national treasure.

Be sure to follow Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park on its social media channels to catch the debut of the video series and stay updated on events and activities happening throughout National Park Week. Take advantage of the free entry day and immerse yourself in the wonders of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park and the spirit of the Merrie Monarch Festival.
