Hawaiʻi Island – The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation has announced a list of lane closures for state roads and highways for the week of August 23 to August 29, 2025, for maintenance and utility work. All projects are weather permitting, and schedules may change.
Volcano Road (Route 11)
- Kurtistown: Single lane closures from August 25 to August 29, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., between mile posts 9 and 11 for mulching and shoulder work.
- Kurtistown to Mountain View: A single lane will be closed on Saturday, August 23, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., between mile posts 10 and 13.5 for mulching and shoulder work.
- Volcano: A roving lane closure will be in effect from August 25 to August 29, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., between mile posts 27.5 and 28 for HELCO to install new powerline poles.
- Volcano: The shoulder will be closed from August 25 to August 29, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., between mile posts 30 and 31 for paving. Mauna Loa Road will be used as a park exit.
Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11)
- Pahala: A single lane will be closed on Saturday, August 23, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., between mile posts 44 and 46 for cutting grass.
- Pahala: A single lane will be closed from August 25 to August 29, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., between mile posts 53 and 55 for cutting grass.
- Naalehu: A single lane will be closed from August 25 to August 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., between mile posts 60 and 69 for restriping and rumble strip installation.
Kalanianaole Street (Route 19)
- Keaukaha: A single lane will be closed from August 25 to August 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at mile post 0 for curb removal and installation.
Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19)
- Papaikou: A single lane will be closed on Saturday, August 23, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., between mile posts 5 and 6 for mulching and tree trimming.
- Pepeekeo to Honomu: A single lane will be closed on Saturday, August 23, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., between mile posts 11 and 14 for cutting grass.
- Honomu: A single lane will be closed from August 25 to August 29, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., between mile posts 12 and 13.5 for mulching and tree cutting.
- Hakalau: A single lane will be closed from August 25 to August 29, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., between mile posts 15 and 17 for cutting grass.
- Papaaloa: A single lane will be closed from August 25 to August 29, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., between mile posts 15 and 17 for cutting grass.
- Papaaloa: A single lane will be closed on Saturday, August 23, and from August 25 to August 29, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., between mile posts 23 and 24 for bridge maintenance.
- Ookala: A single lane will be closed on Tuesday, August 26, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., between mile posts 30 and 30.5 for bridge maintenance.
- Paauilo: A single lane will be closed on Tuesday, August 26, and Thursday, August 28, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., between mile posts 33.2 and 33.5 for bridge maintenance.
Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19)
- Waikoloa: A single lane will be closed on Monday, August 25, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., between mile posts 69.2 and 69.5 for bridge maintenance.
Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190)
- Waimea: A single lane will be closed from August 25 to August 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., between mile posts 0 and 1 for striping.
- South Kohala: A single lane will be closed from August 25 to August 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., between mile posts 12.2 and 16.4 for striping.
- Kalaloa: A single lane will be closed on Saturday, August 23, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., between mile posts 33 and 35 for tree trimming and shoulder work.
- Kalaloa: A single lane will be closed from August 25 to August 29, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., between mile posts 34 and 35 for tree trimming and shoulder work.
Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270)
- Kawaihae: A single lane will be closed from August 25 to August 29, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., between mile posts 2 and 5 for tree trimming and shoulder work.
- Hawi: A single lane will be closed on Saturday, August 23, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., between mile posts 14 and 20 for tree trimming and shoulder work.
Puainako Street (Route 2000)
- Hilo: A single lane will be closed from August 25 to August 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., between mile posts 0.5 and 2.2 for striping and pavement marker installation.
