High Surf Warning Issued for Hawaii Island: Beach Closures in Effect

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a High Surf Warning for west-facing shores and a High Surf Advisory for north and east-facing shores of Hawaii Island, in effect through Monday night.

The High Surf Warning indicates the presence of large breaking waves, significant shore break, and dangerous currents that pose a serious risk of injury or even death. The NWS advises extreme caution for anyone near the affected coastlines.
