Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen announced that 58-year-old Tyler Arizumi of Hilo, 21-year-old James Grimes of Waikoloa, 38-year-old John-Glenn Rodrigues of Hilo, and 37-year-old Felicia Rodrigues of Hilo were arrested and charged in relation to an August 4, 2024 burglary and theft incident from a Pana‘ewa property located on Makalika Street.

According to police reports, a Worthington-brand heavy-duty compressor with an accompanying trailer and a metal locker was removed from the property and later recovered by police during the investigation.

Arizumi and Grimes made their initial appearances in Hilo District Court on Monday afternoon. John-Glenn and Felicia Rodrigues made their initial appearances in Hilo District Court on Tuesday afternoon. Over the Prosecutors’ objections, the Hilo District Court judge released Grimes, John-Glenn Rodrigues, and Felicia Rodrigues on supervised release. Arizumi’s bail was
maintained at $40,000.00 and he was ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing on August 8, 2024. The Rodrigues’ and Grimes were ordered to appear for preliminary hearings on August 20, 2024.

As the Complaints allege, the defendants were charged as follows: Arizumi is charged with Theft in the Second Degree and Burglary in the Second Degree; Grimes is charged with two counts of Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree (methamphetamine); Felicia Rodrigues is charged with Ownership or Possession of Ammunition Prohibited, Place to Keep
Ammunition, and Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree (methamphetamine); and John-Glenn Rodrigues is charged with Theft in the Second Degree, Burglary in the Second Degree, Ownership or Possession of Ammunition Prohibited, and Place to Keep Ammunition.

Theft in the Second Degree, Burglary in the Second Degree, and Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree are all class C felony offenses which carries either a penalty of a five-year prison term or four years probation and up to twelve months in jail.

The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The case was initiated by Officer Chance Simeona, South Hilo Patrol. The felony investigation was handled by the Crime Reduction Unit, Area I Criminal Investigation Section, Hawai‘i Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Patrick Muñoz.
