Hilo Man Quinten Ikaika Pili Charged for Two Daytime Thefts at Hilo Businesses

Quinten Ikaika Pili charged for
two daytime thefts at Hilo businesses. Bail set at $57,000.00.

Today, Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen announced that 28-year-old Quinten Ikaika Pili of Hilo was charged with six offenses related to early afternoon thefts at two Hilo businesses on April 14, 2021. At the time of his arrest, Pili was also wanted on an outstanding bench warrant.

As the Complaint alleges, Pili is charged with Unauthorized Entry Into a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree, Theft in the First Degree, two counts of Habitual Property Crime, and two counts of Theft in the Fourth Degree. Pili remains in custody in lieu of $57,000.00 bail. He is scheduled to appear for his initial appearance on Monday in Hilo District Court. The lead investigator is Officer David Po‘ohina of the Area I Special Enforcement Unit, Hawai‘i County Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Herbert Mukai.

The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

“Today’s charges reflect Hawai‘i Island law enforcement’s ongoing efforts to hold repeat property offenders and thieves accountable for crimes committed during the pandemic. We share in the community’s concerns about the seriousness of these offenses and will strive to make our community a safer and better place to live,” said Prosecuting Attorney Waltjen.
