Hilo Woman Charged with Credit Card Fraud and Identity Theft

HILO, Hawaiʻi – Hawaiʻi Island police have arrested and charged 23-year-old Alohi Kaupu-Grace of Hilo with multiple offenses stemming from an unauthorized transaction made with a victim’s credit card on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

The investigation began on May 2, 2025, when the victim contacted police after receiving a text alert from his credit card company about a fraudulent charge exceeding $750. Detectives with the Area I Criminal Investigation Section took over the case and identified Kaupu-Grace as the individual responsible for the unauthorized transaction. Police determined that Kaupu-Grace had allegedly obtained the victim’s personal confidential information while employed at her former workplace.

On May 23, 2025, after conferring with the Hawaiʻi County Prosecutor’s Office, Kaupu-Grace was formally charged with:

Kaupu-Grace’s bail was set at $8,000.

Detectives are continuing to investigate other potential financial crimes involving Kaupu-Grace.
