Honokaʻa, Hawaiʻi – The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Environmental Management (DEM) has announced a temporary closure of the Honokaʻa Transfer Station on Monday, July 21, and Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The closure is necessary to allow for tree trimming work and is expected to last two days, with the facility reopening on Wednesday, July 23.
According to the DEM, this short-term closure is crucial for public safety. Due to the nature and location of the tree work, it would not be safe to allow vehicles into the facility during this period.
To help residents manage their waste needs during the closure, the nearby Paʻauilo Transfer Station, located at 43-1615 Hauola Road, will be open for an additional day.
