Honokaʻa Man Killed in Mountain View Motorcycle Crash

Mountain View, Hawaiʻi – Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating a fatal motorcycle collision that occurred on Monday evening, August 11, 2025, in Mountain View. The crash resulted in the death of a 34-year-old Honokaʻa man.

The victim has been identified as Hapaki Teixeira.

Police responded to the scene at the intersection of Pūhala Street and Hibiscus Street at 9:48 p.m. According to the investigation, Teixeira was traveling north on a 2007 Suzuki Boulevard motorcycle when he lost control and veered off the roadway, striking a tree. He was ejected from the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet.

Teixeira was transported to Hilo Benioff Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:08 p.m. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

The East Hawaiʻi Traffic Enforcement Unit is continuing the investigation, which has been classified as a coroner’s inquest. At this time, police believe that speed was a factor in the crash. This is the 15th traffic fatality of 2025 on Hawaiʻi Island, compared to 21 at this same time last year.
