Hurricane Douglas Thursday night update.

Major Hurricane Douglas is centered near 14.9N 138.8W at 24/0300 UTC moving WNW at 16 kt. Estimated minimum central pressure is 954 mb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 115 kt with gusts to 140 kt. Scattered moderate to strong convection is observed within 90 nm of the center of Douglas. A band of moderate to strong convection is also noted east of the center, from 12N to 16N between 134W and 136W. On the forecast track Douglas will approach the Hawaiian Islands on Sunday. Douglas is a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir- Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Gradual weakening expected to begin tonight and continue through the weekend
