Funes made his initial appearance today in Hilo District Court. Public Defender Jonas Krave motioned for Defendant’s release on Supervised Released or a reduction in bail. Objection by State Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Christopher Rothfus. Judge Jeffy Hawk Denied the motion for release and maintains bail. Funes remains in custody in lieu of $527,000.00 bail. Funes was ordered to appear for prelim on July 14, 2021, at 02:00 PM.
