Juvenile Injured in Possible Hunting-Related Shooting in Mākaha Valley

HONOLULU, January 3, 2025 — A juvenile male was injured in a suspected hunting-related shooting in Mākaha Valley, West O‘ahu, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE).

The incident occurred Friday morning. According to officials, the juvenile sustained a gunshot wound and was airlifted from the scene by the Honolulu Fire Department. He was subsequently transported by ambulance to Queen’s Medical Center for treatment.

DOCARE officers have secured the weapon involved as evidence and are investigating potential firearms, hunting, trespassing, and other criminal violations.

Authorities have confirmed that there is no danger to the public and have not released the names of those involved due to their ages. Additional details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
