An elite law enforcement team arrested and charged a Kailua-Kona man suspected of numerous thefts in west Hawai‘i. Members of Hawai‘i Police Department’s Area II Special Enforcement Unit, working in collaboration with officers from Kona patrol and the Criminal Investigations Section, arrested 38-year-old Jason T. Delatorre, of Kailua-Kona, on December, 2, 2020, for multiple property and theft offenses.

Investigators had identified Delatorre as the suspect in numerous unrelated property and theft offenses that took place in the Kona district. After conferring with county prosecutors, police charged Delatorre on Thursday, December 3, 2020, with two counts each of burglary in the second degree and theft in the fourth degree, and one count each of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, promotion of a detrimental drug, and drug paraphernalia. His total bail was set at $6,775.

Police want to thank the public for their assistance in this case and would like to remind the public that in light of Governor David Ige’s current COVID-19 emergency proclamation, there are enhanced penalties for certain offenses. These offenses include, but are not limited to, burglary, theft, criminal property damage, and robbery.
