Responding to a 5:13 p.m. call, police determined that an unknown year blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle heading east drove off the right shoulder of the roadway and down a slight embankment, striking several rocks. Riveira was transported to the Kona Community Hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 9:40 p.m.
He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

This is the eighth traffic fatality this year compared to six at this time last year.
