KONA, Hawaiʻi – Hawaiʻi Island police have arrested and charged William Kaohu, a 54-year-old Kailua-Kona man, with multiple drug and firearm offenses following the execution of a narcotics search warrant at his residence.
At approximately 6:03 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, the Hawaiʻi Police Department’s Vice West Section conducted the search at Kaohu’s home in the 74-700 block of Paia Place.
During the search of the residence and property, police recovered a substantial amount of illicit items, including:
- 12.2 pounds of methamphetamine and various methamphetamine-related paraphernalia
- 1.95 pounds (889.6 grams) of marijuana
- 3 ounces (89.45 grams) of cocaine
- 19 Oxycodone pills
- 8.8 grams of marijuana extract
- A .22 caliber Marlin Glenfield Model 60 rifle
- Numerous rounds of ammunition (.22 caliber, 40 mm, 5.56, and .311)
- More than $21,300 in U.S. currency
After conferring with the Hawaiʻi County Prosecutor’s Office, Vice detectives formally charged Kaohu with the following offenses:
- Five counts of first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug
- Two counts of ownership prohibited (rifle/ammunition)
- Two counts of cruelty to animals
- First-degree promotion of a detrimental drug
- Third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug
- Third-degree promotion of a harmful drug
- Tampering with evidence
Total bail for Kaohu has been set at $669,000. He currently remains in custody, awaiting his initial court appearance.
