Kona Man Charged in Robbery Investigation

Hawai‘i Island police report that 26-year-old Hauoli Vickery, who was wanted in connection with a Kona robbery that took place in December, turned himself in to police on Monday, January 10, 2022.

On Sunday, December 19, 2021, at 7:45 p.m., Kona patrol officers responded to the 75-6000 block of Ali‘i Drive after a 25-year-old Colorado man reported that he was struck in the head by an unknown male who stole his cellular phone and wallet.

Detectives with the Area II Criminal Investigation Section determined that Vickery was the unknown male responsible for this incident.

After conferring with the County Prosecutor’s Office, Vickery was charged with one count of robbery in the second-degree, one count of identity theft in the third-degree, one count of theft in the third-degree, and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. His bail was set at $12,000 and he made his initial court appearance on Wednesday, January 12 at Kona District Court.
