Kona Man Wanted for Questioning as Police Investigate Attempted Murder Incident

Hawaiʻi Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 33-year-old Drosstain Pua of Kona and a second unidentified male suspect who are wanted for questioning in connection with an attempted murder investigation.

Pua, who also goes by the name “Hano”, is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, 175 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. He is known to frequent the areas of South Kona and Ocean View.

The second suspect is described as a local male in his in his 40s with a thin build and light complexion, 5 feet 8 inches tall, unknown weight, with brown eyes and brown hair.

The investigation stems from an incident that occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning, July 31, 2022, in Ocean View.

Ka‘ū patrol officers responded to a residence on Bamboo Lane in Ocean View after a 37-year-old man reported being at his residence when two male suspects carrying firearms forcibly entered his residence, assaulted him, and fired a weapon in his direction. The male victim was treated on scene by Hawai‘i Fire Department paramedics for the injuries he sustained during the altercation. No one else was injured during this incident.

Pua is considered armed and dangerous. Police strongly advise the public to not contact Pua and instead call the police department’s non-emergency number at (808) 935-3311.

The Hawai’i Police Department would also like to let the public know that harboring or concealing a wanted person could result in criminal charges being filed against the person who harbors or conceals the wanted person.
