Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen announced that a Kona woman, 44-year-old Jennifer Conway, was charged with possession and the attempted distribution of methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl and felon in possession of firearms offenses following her April 21, 2022 arrest at the Kona International Airport.
As the Complaint alleges, Conway was charged with 16 offenses including four counts of Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree, three counts of Attempted Promotion of a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree, two counts of Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Second Degree, three counts of Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree, Prohibited Acts Related to Drug Paraphernalia, Ownership or Possession of Firearm Prohibited, Ownership or Possession of Ammunition Prohibited, and Registration Mandatory.
A review of court records indicates that Conway is currently on supervised release for another unrelated pending felony matter.
On Monday, Conway made her initial appearance in Kona District Court. Her bail was maintained at $412,000.00 and she was ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing on April 27, 2022.
The investigation was a joint effort by the Hawai‘i Police Department’s Area II Vice Section and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations. The case is being prosecuted by the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney.
The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
