Hawai‘i Island police have arrested and charged 30-year-old Renette Gasio of Kailua-Kona with assault in the second degree after she reportedly threatened a woman with a knife.

A 41-year-old female victim reported that Gasio verbally threatened her while swinging a pocket knife towards her around 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at a historical building on Ali‘i Drive. The victim was able to move away when Gasio threw the knife at her, narrowly missing the victim. Gasio then fled the area.

Kona patrol officers subsequently located Gasio and arrested her for assault in the second degree.

After conferring with the Prosecutor’s Office on Sunday afternoon, July 25, police charged Gasio with one count of assault in the second degree, and her bail was set at $2,000.

Gasio is being held at the Kealakehe Police Station in lieu of bail and is scheduled to appear in Kona District Court today, Monday, July 26.
