Leeward Planning Commission to Consider Condominium Project on Ali’i Drive, Luxury Home in Kona Bay Estates, at May 15th Meeting

KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII – The Leeward Planning Commission of the County of Hawaii will hold a regular meeting on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the West Hawaii Civic Center. The meeting agenda includes a new proposal for a 34-unit condominium complex on Ali’i Drive, as well as a request to revoke a previously approved, but unbuilt, condominium project on the same site.

The meeting will be held in-person, but the commission is also offering remote viewing and testimony options via Zoom and YouTube as a courtesy to the public. However, the notice advises that the meeting will proceed even if remote connections fail.

The commission will also review and approve minutes from previous meetings held in February and April 2025. The Planning Director will present a report on Special Management Area (SMA) determinations and minor permits issued during April 2025.

The public is encouraged to participate. Written testimony can be submitted via email to LPCtestimony@hawaiicounty.gov, mail to the Leeward Planning Commission at 101 Pauahi Street, Suite 3, Hilo, Hawaii, or dropped off at the Planning Department offices in Hilo or Kona. The deadline for submitting written testimony is 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025.
