Around 12:30 this afternoon a call came into Hawaii Fire Department for a swimmer in distress at Lekeleke Bay,  aka “End of the World.”

A witness reported that a Mid 30ʻs male jumped into the water intentionally to go swimming. Due to the large surf and poor judgment, the victim was unable to exit the water along the shoreline. The victim was however able to make it up onto an outcropping of rocks where he then got stranded.

Chopper 2 was dispatched and a rescue man along with the Billy pugh net was able to reach and lift the victim to safety. No EMS treatments or transport was needed after the victim was evaluated by Medic 12.
