Captain Cook Murder victim identified

Hawaiʻi Island Police have charged the suspect in the Kona murder investigation that left a 45-year-old Captain Cook man dead.

On Friday morning (May 1) the victim was identified as Joshua Bonham of Captain Cook. He was further identified as the son of the suspect, James Bonham.

An autopsy was conducted and determined that Bonham died as a result of a gunshot wound to the back, and the manner of death was a homicide.

James Bonham made his initial appearance in Kona District Court on Friday morning (May 1) and was granted supervised released by the judge pending his next court appearance.
