North Kohala brush fire

At approximately 2:26 a.m. on September 02, 2020 (Wednesday), North Kohala patrol officers responded to a brush fire located on Akoni Pule Highway (Rte. 270) near the 12 mile-marker.  Upon arrival, the Hawaiʻi Fire Department was working to extinguish the brush fire which had burned approximately 20 acres.

A gray 2002 Buick Rendezvous, which had been parked on the Makai side of Akoni Pule Highway was also engulfed in the fire.

Police ask that anyone who may have information regarding this incident to call Detective Ray Fukada at (808) 326-4646, ext. 281, or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311.Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the island-wide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00.
