Ocean View Man Charged Following Barricaded Standoff in Kaʻū

On May 13, 2024, a 32-year-old male from Ocean View, identified as Kamren Adams, was charged for the offenses of Burglary in the first degree and Terroristic Threatening in the first degree stemming from an incident that took place on May 12, 2024.

On May 12, 2024 at approximately 8:20 a.m., a 37-year-old female, also from Ocean View, called police for assistance in regards to a male that broke into a residence she was caretaking; located at the 92-2800 block of  Alaoli Drive.  She reported that she was in a bedroom on the fourth floor of the residence when she heard a loud bang she thought was a gunshot.  Upon looking outside, she observed that a male party, later identified as Kamren Adams was banging on the front door and demanding entry into the residence.  She reported that she has never seen the male before and that he did not have permission to be on the property or to enter her residence.  She told the male to “go away!” and then called for police. During the incident the female reported that she observed Adams with 3 different types of firearms.

Later that afternoon the female was able to exit the residence without incident and Adams was arrested shortly after, also without incident.

On 05-12-2024 a search warrant was executed at the Alaoli Drive residence and detectives with the Area 2 Criminal Investigation Section (CIS) recovered 3 replica type firearms; Including a C02 operated AR-15 type pellet rifle, a wooden stocked, pump style pellet rifle and a toy handgun. The recovered replicas were consistent in appearance to what the female victim had described.

On 05-13-2024 detectives with the Area 2 CIS conferred with the County Prosecutor’s Office, and subsequently charged Adams with the following offenses:

  • First-degree Burglary
  • First-degree Terroristic Threatening

Adams bail was set at $70,000.00. his initial court appearance will be on May 14, 2024 at Kona District Court.
